Exciting news for people in Suva as the Fiji Fringe Festival 2025 is set to take over the city from this Saturday to next Saturday and showcase the incredible talents of local and regional artists with over 50 exciting events.
Festival Company Fiji Director Sharleen Ali says they are embarking on another incredible journey to celebrate and amplify the voices and the creativity of our artists and performers in Fiji and around the region.
Ali says when they first introduced the Fiji Fringe Festival in 2023, it was with a vision to create a platform where artists could experiment, express and connect with new audiences in ways they had not before.
She says the inaugural festival was a leap of faith and the response was overwhelming.
She further says the momentum continued in 2024 with an even bigger festival, showcasing a wide range of talent in theatre, music, dance, comedy, spoken word, and experimental performances.
Ali says now, in 2025, the festival is scaling new heights.
She adds that a vibrant festival atmosphere will be created along the foreshore area, featuring food, variety stalls, children’s rides and MSME vendor stalls.
She says this year also brings exciting new additions, including expanded workshops with Baka Books and Studio Kin, offering literature and educational sessions for all ages.
The Director says the festival’s budget is estimated between $60,000 to $80,000, significantly lower than last year’s $150,000.
When asked by fijivillage News about security measures for the festival, Suva City Council Acting Head of Corporate Services, Jeremaia Volavola says their partnership is not just about providing venues, it is also about ensuring security.
Volavola says they are managing parking, securing vehicles and ensuring that all patrons are safe while attending their events.
He says they have signed an MOU with the Fiji Police Force and will be working together to ensure public safety throughout the festival week.
Tickets are on sale on ticketmax.com.fj/Fringe from $10 to $100, with an average price of $30.
