The main concern raised by those criticising the Bill has been the lack of transparency, including the reported exclusion of Crown law Office, the government legal arm, in the drafting of the Bill.
The Tainted Cryptocurrency Recovery Bill 2023 has been the talk of the town since it was revealed a week ago that the proposed Cook Islands legislation, drafted by a US-based company, could validate hacking into any account or system in the world.

At what point will the people of the Cook Islands say and act on what appears yet another corrupt process by which only a few will get any reward. The risks, world wide, regarding cryptocurrency are evident for all to see. Millions of dollars of money that should be spent on the needs of the people are ‘disappearing’ into a few hands. Just from this newspaper own reports , there have been millions of dollars spent on a few , by a few government officials.
