A storm system is set to bring rain across the state tonight, with snow levels rising to 6,000 feet in western Montana. Most of the snowfall will occur in the higher elevations of the Big and Little Belt mountains in central Montana.

MONTANA – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Kings Hill Pass and Neihart, with expectations of four to nine inches of snow. Radar has shown rain and high elevation snow across parts of western and southern Montana.

High wind warnings and advisories are in place through Monday for the Lewistown, Livingston, and Cut Bank areas. Winds are gusting between 50 and 75 mph, with gusts reaching into the 30s mph from Cut Bank to Livingston.

Temperatures today rose into the 40s and lower 50s, except in the Kalispell area, where they remained in the upper 30s. Tonight, lows are expected to be in the mid-30s to lower 40s, with highs tomorrow reaching the 50s to lower 60s.

A warming trend is anticipated in the early and middle parts of the week, bringing the warmest weather of the year so far. Highs are expected to climb into the upper 50s, 60s, and 70s by Wednesday before a return to cooler and unsettled weather later this week and into the weekend.
